This week we had an awesome discussion on The Bible, or "The Little Library". Previously I thought 'Bible' translated to "the Big Book", but it is actually "little library". I love that! It makes it even more clear that there can be more books added to the library (or even books subtracted like Songs of Solomon)!
On LDS.org it says "The Bible is not God’s final revelation to humanity, however, and neither is this collection of sacred writings complete. The Bible itself speaks of other authoritative books of scripture including books of Nathan the prophet and of Jehu and Enoch, the prophecy of Ahijah, the visions of Iddo the seer, and even missing epistles of Paul (see 2 Chronicles 9:29; 13:22; 20:34; 1 Corinthians 5:9; Jude 1:14). Other books of Latter-day Saint scripture—the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price—clarify the gospel as taught in the Bible and corroborate the truthfulness of the Biblical witness of Jesus Christ."
I'm surprised that people don't question those scriptures more often when it references scriptures we don't have. Maybe it's because people don't actually know or read the scriptures as much as they think. Anyways, it's beautiful to know that God STILL speaks to man and that our canon of scripture is open.
It was also awesome to learn more about how the Bible came to be and how it isn't without error. I encourage everyone to read up on it and see how it came about! You can do so at https://www.lds.org/topics/bible-inerrancy-of?lang=eng .
Because of all this I've committed to read my scriptures more in order to utilize what the Lord has given us so far!
