Week 3

This week I read 2 Nephi 2:22-24. It reads: " 22  And now, behold, if Adam had not transgressed he would not have fallen, but he would have remained in the garden of Eden. And all things which were created must have remained in the same state in which they were after they were created; and they must have remained forever, and had no end. 23  And they would have had no children; wherefore they would have remained in a state of innocence, having no joy, for they knew no misery; doing no good, for they knew no sin. 24  But behold, all things have been done in the wisdom of him who knoweth all things." I used this scripture a lot on my mission to help investigators understand the fall.  I love how it explains so simply how we would not be here on earth if Adam hadn't partaken of the fruit.  When you recognize that Adam and Eve would have just remained in the garden forever, you see that God's real intent was for them to partake of the...

Week 2

This week we had an awesome discussion on The Bible, or "The Little Library".  Previously I thought 'Bible' translated to "the Big Book", but it is actually "little library".  I love that!  It makes it even more clear that there can be more books added to the library (or even books subtracted like Songs of Solomon)!  On LDS.org it says " The Bible is not God’s final revelation to humanity, however, and neither is this collection of sacred writings complete. The Bible itself speaks of other authoritative books of scripture including books of Nathan the prophet and of Jehu and Enoch, the prophecy of Ahijah, the visions of Iddo the seer, and even missing epistles of Paul (see  2 Chronicles 9:29 ;  13:22 ;  20:34 ;  1 Corinthians 5:9 ;  Jude 1:14 ). Other books of Latter-day Saint scripture—the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price—clarify the gospel as taught in the Bible and corroborate the truthful...

Week 1

This week I read the third chapter of Abraham.  In this chapter the Lord shows Abraham just about everything He could.  He explains to him the choosing of Christ, our eternal nature as spirits, the Creation, and basically all the works of His hands.  I liked this chapter because it shows me how great our God is.  He is infinite in power and has created millions of worlds like ours.  Knowing that there are millions of other worlds like ours with spirit children of God living on them, it is humbling to know we live on the only world that Christ came to.  I feel because of that we are able to have a much more real experience and knowledge of the Atonement.  We know that there was a man named Christ that lived on earth, the only thing now is to believe that He was really the Son of God on Earth.  I don't know for sure, but I feel like other worlds learn that Christ came to another world and suffered for them, so they have to accept both of those trut...
