This week I read 2 Nephi 2:22-24.
It reads:
"22 And now, behold, if Adam had not transgressed he would not have fallen, but he would have remained in the garden of Eden. And all things which were created must have remained in the same state in which they were after they were created; and they must have remained forever, and had no end.
It reads:
"22 And now, behold, if Adam had not transgressed he would not have fallen, but he would have remained in the garden of Eden. And all things which were created must have remained in the same state in which they were after they were created; and they must have remained forever, and had no end.
23 And they would have had no children; wherefore they would have remained in a state of innocence, having no joy, for they knew no misery; doing no good, for they knew no sin.
24 But behold, all things have been done in the wisdom of him who knoweth all things."
24 But behold, all things have been done in the wisdom of him who knoweth all things."
I used this scripture a lot on my mission to help investigators understand the fall. I love how it explains so simply how we would not be here on earth if Adam hadn't partaken of the fruit. When you recognize that Adam and Eve would have just remained in the garden forever, you see that God's real intent was for them to partake of the fruit. In order for us to be here today, they HAD to partake of the fruit. This shows me that it was not a sin and that our First Parents should actually be praised for their decision to partake of the fruit.
Let us always remember how wise our God really is. He made this perfect plan which initiated our earth lives provided agency for us to learn and grow.
